Lewis Elementary School (Completed fall 2018)
Seismic Retrofit Immediate Occupancy - SRGP funded - The Lewis seismic retrofit meets immediate occupancy structural performance standards.The scope of the work included the following: The removal of windows and adding additional sheer walls on the exterior at the east and west ends of the south classroom wings. The addition of plywood shear walls in the faculty dining room. The addition of metal stud walls to brace the insufficiently reinforced concrete masonry walls in gymnasium locker rooms. Bracing walls between columns and anchoring brick veneer to the exterior of the gymnasium and cafeteria. Added plywood shear walls and strengthened the connections between those walls and the foundation in classrooms.The school received a complete roof replacement and associated roof level strengthening in 2013 as part of the 2012 Bond. This work reduced the required work scope of matching funds needed in order to comply with the requirements of the SRGP application.
Hayhurst Elementary School (First half completed summer 2019 / Second half completed summer 2020)
Seismic Retrofit Immediate Occupancy - SRGP funded - Hayhurst Elementary School was seismically upgraded to meet immediate occupancy structural performance standards. The scope of the work includes the following: Contractors installed plywood sheathing at walls between classrooms while also adding additional exterior shear walls classrooms in the North wing of the school. In addition, structural steel bracing and fiber-reinforcement was added to the gymnasium walls.The school received a complete roof replacement and associated roof level strengthening in 2015 as part of the 2012 Bond. This work reduced the required work scope of matching funds needed in order to comply with the requirements of the SRGP application.

Hayhurst & Lewis Elementary received seismic rehabilitation grants from Business Oregon, the state's economic development agency. The Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program (SRGP) is a state of Oregon competitive grant program that provides funding for the seismic rehabilitation of critical public buildings, particularly public schools and emergency service facilities. The evaluation for the SRGP funds is based on the American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE) 41-13 standard. ½ûÂþÌìÌà will continue to diligently pursue SRGP funding as well as other opportunities to improve the quality of its schools as they become available.
