Vision

Portland Public School libraries are welcoming, well resourced spaces where students are engaged through literature, encouraged to be curious, and taught the skills they need to navigate a complex information environment.

½ûÂþÌìÌà Libraries serve every ½ûÂþÌìÌà student and ½ûÂþÌìÌà educator by providing print and digital resources through our individual school libraries and central Library Services.

Every ½ûÂþÌìÌà school library is staffed with at minimum, a half-time Certified Teacher Librarian and generally a Library Assistant. Teacher Librarians support student reading and provide instruction in Information Literacy Skills. Library staff develop culturally relevant and engaging library collections for student choice reading and research needs., Library Programming engages students in reading programs, creative pursuits, and the literary arts
