The health science department at Benson offers a unique dental assisting pathway that focuses on job entry level skills for dental office settings. Infection control, bloodborne pathogen training, instrument processing and sterilization are prioritized in the curriculum and universal to many medical careers. Dental radiology is a skill senior students in this major will learn and practice, preparing them for the option of dental RHS certification. Benson is proud to engage with many community partners enabling our students to get patient facing clinical experiences, ensuring they have a broader perspective as they prepare for careers in healthcare. Understanding the connections between oral health and systemic health is a vital component of student instruction.
