At Benson, students are highly encouraged to participate in hand-on experiences. They learn professionalism, how to take vital signs, do CPR, etc. This year, nursing students have an option to get trained as a nursing assistant. This opportunity sets a solid foundation for those who wish to pursue further into the nursing career.

Every year, Benson sends its nursing students to Veterans Administration Hospital and other clinical places to gain experiences. These clinical settings allow students to practice skills they learned in classroom. Students also learn how to perform procedures on patients, provide comfort to patients, and treat patients to the best of their abilities.

However, it is not just about practicing the procedures; students are also provided with opportunities to improve their communication skills by interacting with patients one on one. These skills and experiences are necessary to help students prepare to become proficient and qualified health care providers.
