½ûÂþÌìÌà is excited to introduce our first district-wide, virtual college & career info night for students and families grades 9-12:
Thursday, April 15, 2021, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Students and families will have an opportunity to attend workshop sessions as well as hear from local and national experts on a variety of college and career topics.

Event Schedule
6:00 - 6:40 pm Welcome: Aurora Hymel, Senior Director of College & Career Readiness at ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ
Keynote Speaker: Tamara Siler, Deputy Director of Admission, Access and Inclusion at Rice University
This is Tamara's 28th year in the Office of Admission at Rice. As a Deputy Director, Tamara serves as a thought leader in admission, with a special focus on programming related to the recruitment and support of underrepresented student populations throughout the recruitment and admission process. Tamara has participated on the NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) Board of Directors and as a Board Member for ACCEPT – Admissions Community Cultivating Equity and Peace Today.

Sessions will include:
- Parenting through the college application process
- Understanding the cost of college
- College test preparation and updates during COVID times
- 9th & 10th Grade College Planning
- Information about advanced training and job readiness options

This event is presented by the Department of Career & College Readiness, in collaboration with College Coordinators, College Counseling Leads, and College Counselors.
