Connect to Kindergarten

  • The first proper day of kindergarten for all students is Tuesday, September 3, but there are two important events prior to that day:

    • All families will meet with their teacher for a one-on-one family meeting either August 27 or 28.
    • Half of the students will have a practice first day of school on August 29, and the other half will come for their first day on August 30.

    In mid-August, your child's teacher will reach out to you to schedule both the family meeting and the practice first day of school.   This schedule leaves some uncertainty prior to September 3, but the gentle approach allows students to ease into their kindergarten year with time to get to know their teacher and the classroom.  

     

    PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DATES ABOVE ARE FOR FALL 2024.  DATES FOR FALL 2025 WILL BE POSTED AS SOON AS THE SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES NEXT YEAR'S CALENDAR.

  • Registration for 2025-26 Kindergarten will open February 28, 2025!

    You can register online if ALL of the following apply:

    • Your child is NEW to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ
    • Your students did NOT attend a ½ûÂþÌìÌà Pre-K locations: Boise-Eliot/Humboldt, Clarendon, Creston Annex, Dr. MLK Jr, Faubion, Grout, Jason Lee, Kelly, Marysville, Lent, Rosa Parks, Sacajawea, Sitton, Whitman, Woodlawn
    • Your student does NOT have an IFSP and did NOT receive services from Multnomah Early Childhood Program (MECP)
    • You are enrolling your child in your neighborhood school and NOT a CBO/Charter
    • You have an email address and access to a computer

Connect to Kindergarten Events

  • Do you have a student who will be attending Kindergarten at Irvington in fall 2025?  If so, please save the dates below for our Kindergarten Connect events this spring.

    Come to the school for a formal adult-only info session.  We look forward to meeting you!

    • February 20, 6pm, at Irvington  
    • May 15, 6pm, at Irvington  
     
    We will also host an obstacle course party for incoming kindergarteners on Tuesday, May 20, from 5-6pm.  Due to limited space, please find childcare arrangements for siblings.  This event will be only for incoming kindergarteners and caregivers.  You can meet us at the gym entrance at the back of the school.
     
    We will also have popsicle parties during the summer for incoming families.  Please join us on the playground at the times/dates below:
    • June 17, 5:30-6:30pm, at the Irvington playground
    • August 19, 5:30-6:30pm, at the Irvington playground
