• The Alameda PTA

    We are most fortunate to belong to a school community that offers our children a supportive, nurturing, and intellectually stimulating learning environment. Along with its dedicated faculty and staff, parent involvement is key to Alameda’s success. Parents contributing their time, talents, and treasure enhance our students’ experience in and out of the classroom in countless ways.

    The Alameda PTA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization run by parent volunteers. We are affiliated with both the and the. The Oregon PTA is 20,000 members strong and the National PTA is 6 million strong. PTA membership puts a voice and powerful numbers behind legislation and advocacy for education funding, wellness programs, and reform.

    Recently, the dues and volunteerism of Alameda PTA members:

    • Enriched the core curriculum with in-school and after school offerings in geography (Passport Club), science (Family Science Nights, Science Fair), life sciences (Garden Committee), writing (writer celebrations), and reading (Battle of the Books), as well as offered a Chess Club.
    • Engaged students in service and stewardship to their school and community through the Green Team, Safety Patrol, volunteer nights at the Oregon Foodbank and more.
    • Purchased stand-up desks for all classrooms and supported professional development for teachers.
    • Ensured Alameda teachers and staff felt supported and appreciated (and well-fed) by offering refreshments and meals during fall conferences and Staff Appreciation Week.
    • Offered Alameda families a chance to get to know each other through social activities such as the Back-to-School Picnic, Family Movie Nights, and family dances.
    • Contributed to student fitness and wellness by supporting Field Day, Bike/Walk to School, and Run for the Arts.
    • Sponsored discussions for parents on child development, equity, emergency preparedness, and gun violence.
    • Led, contributed to, or supported school-improvement conversations and projects, including the Field Improvement Project, the Parent Equity Team, and forming a sister-school relationship with Rigler Elementary School.
