BEGINNING BAND
Beginning Band is for students new to an instrument (no experience required) or students with limited experience on an instrument. This band is the first step in building the band program at Hosford so instrument sign ups will be based on the needs of the program - you are not guaranteed your first choice of instrument. There is no limit on trombones, baritones, french horns, oboes, bassoons, tubas. There will be limits on flute, clarinet, and trumpet. Those that want to play percussion must first start on a wind instrument and will have an opportunity to change after the new year. There will be a very strict limit on saxophone players as well. Students will learn the basics of their instrument and music theory through the use of method books and appropriate literature. Students will progress towards higher level music and more performance opportunities and will move from this band into the Concert or Symphonic Bands.
