In Oregon, 18,902 K-12 students experienced homelessness at some point during the 2013-14 school year, an increase of 737 students over the previous year. Key Pathways for Student Success Recommended to the Governor and Legislature

Monday the Oregon Education Investment Board met to recommend to Governor Kitzhaber, and ultimately the Oregon Legislature, priorities for strategic policies and investments.Opportunities for each and every student to learn and reach their full potential begin with healthy babies and supporting stable and attached families. To ensure each and every Oregon student is successful, these strategic policies and investments are designed to:

    • enable the completion of high school and the pursuit of affordable postsecondary education
    • prepare students for a career with expanded opportunities for career-technical and STEM education
    • improving access to quality childcare and early learning experiences, and ensuring access to full-day kindergarten
On December 1, Governor Kitzhaber will unveil his recommended education budget for the 2015-17 biennium.
