After a recent football practice at Roosevelt High School, student athletes gathered on the bleachers with plates of warm Hawaiian dinner to listen to inspirational speakers hosted by ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ’ Youth Violence Prevention and Response Team. The team hosted similar events at Jefferson, Grant, and Franklin, and that’s just one part of their comprehensive program to connect students to resources and services that will help them succeed.

Since 2022, ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ’ Youth Violence Prevention and Response Team has supported students who are identified as being at a higher risk of being victims or perpetrators of violence in the community. Ronnie Faavae, the team’s co-manager, said that the team mentors students, guides them through connecting with wrap-around services, and empowers them to make good decisions. We look forward to hearing more from their team!
