This is Deidre Banning-Shaughnesy’s third year teaching at Ida B. Wells, and she currently teaches Political Economy and US History. Banning-Shaughnesy was born in Seattle, Washington but moved to Portland when she was around six years old. After graduating from Cleveland High School, Banning-Shaughnesy went on to get her undergraduate degree in Art History from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Then, she came back to Portland to get her master's degree from Lewis and Clark college. Banning-Shaughnesy loves to read, cook, do crafts, and watch movies. She is excited back in person this year and connecting with students on a more personal level.
