Cassie Lanzas

Cassie Lanzas has been a librarian at Ida B. Wells High School for seven years. She was born in Eugene, Oregon and grew up in Sherwood. She got her bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences at Portland State University and her master’s degree in teaching at Lewis & Clark College. Before teaching at Ida B. Wells, Lanzas taught social studies at Grant High School for 12 years. She wanted to be a librarian because she was passionate about spreading quality information and reading books. “Given the professional interest of mine and the fact that I always loved books, it just came naturally to me,” says Lanzas. In her free time, she loves gardening, spending time with her kids and exploring different hobbies.
